I’ve just uploaded a few pictures from my trip to Mt Buller last weekend. This was my second time up to the snow and I decided to try snowboarding instead. I must’ve fallen over 50 times versus only twice or thrice the last time I tried skiing but I’d still snowboard over skiiing anyday – at my novice level anyway.

Just a few tips for any of you first timers to the snow:

Drink plenty of water – before, during and after; do not underestimate how dehydrated you will get
Do not skimp on the anti-UV goggles
If you try snowboarding, make sure you get wristguards; there will be plenty of falling on your wrists (a big no-no I’m told)

BRW Triathlon

I�ve put off blogging about the BRW triathlon for long enough. Initially it was because I felt I may pull out hence I didn�t feel eager to announce anything to the world.

But now it�s over, I finished, we did it! In fact it�s been well over a month, maybe two, since the event. It was an amazing feeling to cross that finish line. A real sense of achievement and renewed confidence that I can do anything that I really choose to put my mind to. Ok, it wasn�t quite that dramatic, but it did feel pretty darn good.

The triathlon consisted of a 400m swim (at beautiful Elwood Beach), a 10km bike ride (thanks for lending me your bike Leslie) and finally a 4km run. The swim was incredibly challenging, especially since I am still a tiny bit afraid of water. This used to be much worse when I was younger but over the years I�ve learnt to swim and now I actually enjoy the odd swim (thanks pa, I�ll never forget your insistence that this would happen one day :)).

The run and bike ride turned out to be easier. It seems that all those runs around Albert park lake with my fellow triathletes and other IBSers paid off. In fact, I can�t see myself having done a triathlon without their encouragement, thanks gals and guys! The last year at IBS really has been fantastic for me; with this triathlon, clearly in more way than one.
