Masters degree - tick.
It’s done. Over. Finished. Finally.
I don’t think I’ll miss the exams, or the assignment deadlines but I will miss being at university. There’s something to be admired about people who give up time with their loved ones, turn down going out with friends night after night, to pay for the privilege to learn. I enjoy being around people like this.
Anyway, I’m not feeling particularly articulate so I’ll stop there.
Oh and before I forget there’s the little matter of the “great average” I was hoping for. I finished with 84.675% – a high distinction when rounded :) Of course these things are very subjective; for my part I’m pleased.
First step
I start a beginners course in Spanish this Monday. I’ve missed the first 2 lessons, I hope I catch up with the rest of the group.
This place came recommended by my Columbian hair dresser and is pretty close to where I live. They charge $180 for an 8 week term with one class a week and each class goes for 1.5 hours. I neglected to inquire about the class size, oh well.
Wish me luck!
An Admission
I want to change the world, make meaning, move mountains.
However… I’m still struggling with the basics.

BRW Triathlon
But now its over, I finished, we did it! In fact its been well over a month, maybe two, since the event. It was an amazing feeling to cross that finish line. A real sense of achievement and renewed confidence that I can do anything that I really choose to put my mind to. Ok, it wasnt quite that dramatic, but it did feel pretty darn good.
The triathlon consisted of a 400m swim (at beautiful Elwood Beach), a 10km bike ride (thanks for lending me your bike Leslie) and finally a 4km run. The swim was incredibly challenging, especially since I am still a tiny bit afraid of water. This used to be much worse when I was younger but over the years Ive learnt to swim and now I actually enjoy the odd swim (thanks pa, Ill never forget your insistence that this would happen one day :)).
The run and bike ride turned out to be easier. It seems that all those runs around Albert park lake with my fellow triathletes and other IBSers paid off. In fact, I cant see myself having done a triathlon without their encouragement, thanks gals and guys! The last year at IBS really has been fantastic for me; with this triathlon, clearly in more way than one.
43 things I’d like to do…
I’ve just registered at 43things.com, now if I can find an elegant way to integrate my list with this blog…
You can my view my list here. Needless to say it’s very much WIP at this stage and I’ll keep adding things as I think of them.
