Consumed

I’ve been on a consumption rampage recently. I finally went out and bought a bunch of things that I’ve wanted but’ve been waiting over a year to buy.

I bought the? 10 best episodes of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on DVD, He-Man’ was my favourite childhood cartoon series. Anyone who knew me growing up should remember how obsessed I was with He-Man. My grandmother spoilt me with every new action figure by Mattel, pretty much on the day each was released. Unfortunately I recently found out that my entire collection has been given away/lost/disposed over the years. *Sigh*. At least I can now relive those days by watching my newly acquired DVDs.

I also bought the The Complete Superman Collection, which was *finally* released on DVD in Australia last Wednesday. I can’t wait to watch all four parts again, not to mention Superman Returns when it comes out in June next year. I hope it stays true to the series with Christopher Reeve. From the photos taken during filming it looks like Brandon Routh will make a great Clark Kent, though not sure how much I’ll like him as Superman. To be fair I think Christopher Reeve will always be hard to beat for us die-hards. I wouldn’t place any money on Kate Bosworth playing a good Lois Lane, sorry Kate, just being honest. I’m really looking forward to seeing Kevin Spacey play Lex Luthor, somehow he seems feels perfect for the part.

Other DVD purchases this week included a couple of bargain ($5) DVDs of the later Crow movies; Officespace; Batman Begins, which I loved almost as much as my favourite part of the Superman series – Superman II and finally the Back to the Future trilogy.

My final purchase was the biggest and sadly I’m going to have to wait a few weeks to receive it. Ever since I sold my old laptop a few months ago I’ve been meaning to buy another one. I’ve also been meaning to buy a Mac for a long time, so I finally decided to go ahead and buy a 15 inch Apple PowerBook, especially since Apple just upped the specs on these. They now come with higher res screens and there’s an option to get a 7200rpm hard drive (which I went with of course). I can’t wait to start playing with this baby!

Now, let’s see which friend I can leech some cash off to buy my next meal.

  1. You can’t beat a good spend up when you’ve been holding tight for a long while. I reckon DVD’s are a great purchase and you generally get reasonable milage for you dollar.

I am sure you’ll have heaps of fun tinkering with your new laptop when it arrives!

  2. The DVDs were great, I’ve watched most of them already! As for the laptop, the anticipation is killing me… I can’t believe that it was just yesterday that I ordered it.

On a completely unrelated note, you wouldn’t happen to have some spare change you could ‘lend’ me would ya? ;)
